Welcome to Kedai Makanan Laut Yeh Lai Hock, a hidden gem nestled in the heart of Batu Pahat, Johor. This charming eatery, located at 10, Jalan Nilam, Taman Mewah, has been delighting patrons with its exceptional seafood offerings and home-cooked dishes for years. Run by a dedicated family, the restaurant radiates warmth and genuine hospitality, making every visit feel like dining at a loved one's home.
One of the standout features of Yeh Lai Hock is its commitment to freshness. Customers rave about the incredible taste of the ingredients, particularly the prawns, which are hailed as "really fresh" and integral to the delightful zi char dishes. As Amanda Kee aptly puts it, "Honestly can't beat this." The creative take on traditional favorites, such as the innovative steamed egg otah, showcases the restaurant's unique flair and dedication to quality.
For those craving hearty, comforting meals, the restaurant offers a fantastic array of Hokkien-style food, lovingly prepared by the owners. While the wait for food might be longer than in a typical establishment, as noted by Farrand Hey, it's a wait that builds anticipation. The delicious aroma wafting through the air teases the senses, making the eventual reward all the more satisfying. It’s a labor of love that truly shines through in every dish.
William Lim highlights another perk of dining here: the great food at reasonable prices. With options to use touch-and-go payment, convenience is key, despite the simple, non-air-conditioned environment that adds to the rustic charm of the establishment. While it may not boast extravagant décor, the focus on genuine, tasty meals keeps customers returning for more.
Teo Aiping praises the unique taste that sets Yeh Lai Hock apart from other restaurants. The family’s legacy shines in their signature dishes, like the recommended Nyonya steamed fish—an absolute must-try for seafood lovers. Be mindful that the dinner rush can lead to a bustling atmosphere, so aim to arrive early to fully enjoy everything this culinary treasure has to offer.
In closing, Kedai Makanan Laut Yeh Lai Hock is more than just a restaurant; it’s an experience that evokes nostalgia through flavors, family, and love for food. Whether you're a local or a visitor, this establishment promises a heartfelt meal that you'll remember long after the last bite. Come for the fresh seafood, stay for the delightful atmosphere, and leave with memories you'll cherish.

Super affordable and good zi char. Their prawns are really fresh, and their steamed egg otah is creative and so delicious. Noodles were surprisingly good as well. Honestly can't beat this.

Fantastically tasty home cooked hokkien style food. Very heartwarming meal but be warn, impossibly long wait for food as the couple cooks the dishes themselves.
